Technology does not only belong to people who work in tech. Jena Mehlberg built her career in the beauty industry, and it was learning how to use tech that let her streamline it — and then teach other beauty professionals to do the same. This impact story features Jena Mehlberg, owner and founder of Orlando Spray Tans and Catalyst Beauty Group.

About Jena Mehlberg
Jena Mehlberg is the owner and founder of Orlando Spray Tans and Catalyst Beauty Group. Catalyst Beauty Group is a coaching and consulting company helping professionals in the beauty industry build and scale their business. Jena’s passion stems from her mom, who also worked in the industry; she was born into the beauty industry. She has an impressive start, launching a business at 19 and earning a business degree, then adding tech to her resume and building a business that helps others.
The BOT Impact
Having always been interested in tech and hearing about BOT in passing, Jena started her BOT journey. Wondering what it would be like to work in tech, Jena started attending BOT events to see where she could fit in.
With the absence of that additional guidance, what kind of effect did that have on your business?
“Well, you realize how much you’re overcomplicating things.”
Jena realized that many business owners, including those in the beauty industry, were using multiple systems but only using a small percentage of their capabilities. Learning the importance of tech guidance and applying those techniques in her own business, Jena realized where she could make a difference. Tech systems can help a business owner streamline operations, and understanding tech in that area helps you scale.
Specifically, Jena implemented pipelines. Using tech systems like AI Agents and CRMs to change and boost her sales process. Learning how to use tech filled the missing pieces in her business workflow, allowing Jena to focus on other parts of the business she loves.

What’s Next for Jena?
Jena found the confidence to see herself as a founder, working in the field she was born into. Jena now consults with salons and beauty professionals, using her love of beauty, business, and tech education to help them on the back end of the business.
“I definitely wouldn’t be this far if it wasn’t for BOT.”
Jena has continued leaning into tech, registering for BOT’s Tech Sales cohort. Now that she has a better understanding of how tech can help a small business, she looks to gain insights on how to sell and position tech.
If you had to describe BOT in one word, what would it be?
“Belonging.”
