Join Us on March 8, 2026, for Women Who Build: Powered By Lovable Hackathon

International Women’s Day is a time to acknowledge and celebrate the diverse contributions of women. On Sunday, March 8, 2026, Building Our Tech (BOT) is partnering with Lovable to bring together ambitious women builders, founders, creatives, and technologists for a high-energy Women-in-Tech Hackathon. This event is designed to spark ideas, launch solutions, and accelerate innovation while celebrating women. Whether you’re a first-time coder, a startup founder, a product thinker, or a seasoned engineer, this hackathon is your opportunity to collaborate, create, and grow in a supportive, high-impact environment.

What is a Hack-a-Thon

A hackathon is an intensive, time-bound event where participants form teams to build a working prototype or solution around a specific challenge.

During the event, you can expect:

  • Rapid problem-solving

  • Creative collaboration

  • Building functional tech solutions

  • Pitching ideas to judges and peers

Traditionally, hack-a-thons last 24–48 hours, however, this event will take place over 6 hours. Along the way, participants gain hands-on experience, mentorship, and exposure to new tools and technologies.

Hackathons are where ideas turn into startups, portfolios grow stronger, and lifelong professional connections are made.

What is Lovable?

Lovable is sponsoring this event with their program that helps founders build apps, websites, and digital products in a no-code AI-powered platform. Lovable is an app that helps you build faster, without needing a deep knowledge of coding.

Why We’re Hosting This Event on International Women’s Day

This hackathon is designed to:

  • Create space for women to lead technical innovation

  • Encourage more women to build and launch startups

  • Foster mentorship and peer support

  • Spotlight emerging talent

  • Turn ideas into scalable ventures

Tips for Tech Founders Participating in a Hackathon

Hackathons can be game-changing if you approach them strategically. These tips will help set you up for success before you walk in the door.

1. Focus on a Clear, Narrow Problem

Don’t try to build everything. Identify one high-impact pain point and solve it well.

2. Build an MVP (Minimum Viable Product)

Perfection isn’t the goal. A simple, functional prototype beats a complex, unfinished vision.

3. Assemble a Complementary Team

Strong teams combine technical, product, and storytelling skills. Diverse thinking drives better innovation.

4. Validate Early

Talk to mentors and other participants. Feedback during the build phase can dramatically improve your outcome.

5. Perfect Your Pitch

You’re not just building a product, you’re communicating a vision. Perfect your pitch by making sure to include :

  • The problem

  • Your solution

  • The market opportunity

  • What makes your approach unique

6. Think Beyond the Event

Many successful startups begin at hackathons. To maximize your experience, consider:

  • Continuing development & programs post-event

  • Applying to accelerators

  • Pitching to early-stage investors

  • Turning your prototype into a beta product

What You’ll Gain

By attending, you’ll walk away with:

  • A tangible project or prototype

  • Real-world collaboration experience

  • Exposure to mentors and industry leaders

  • Expanded professional network

  • Increased confidence as a builder

  • Potential startup momentum

Most importantly, you’ll be part of a powerful community of women shaping the future of technology.
